Chapter 13 – Mortal Strike!
“Then, what skill should I choose?” There are many heroes in the Pool of Heroes, not to mention skills.
“If you don’t know what to choose, I could give you some advice.”
“Say!” Cairne words brought hope to Lin Ling.
One of them is just a normal person from earth, while the other is the Tauren Chieftain. Their experiences are not on the same level.
He doesn’t have idea how many battles Cairne has fought in his life! In the end, he was killed by the orcs, but anyway there were very few people who had the ability to kill him in his world.
Dwarves, elves, orcs, undead…Cairne Bloodhood knows a lot about a lot of races and their respective heroes, and now that Lin Ling thought about it, he even dealt with a few of them. If someone can think of a useful skill for the current Lin Ling, then that’s him. “First, I recommend you a skill possessed by the Demon Hunters [Inmolation]! If I haven’t guessed incorrectly, you are a complete novice when it comes to battles, so [Inmolation] is the most practical skill for you. Not only deals fire damage to your enemies, but also increases your resistance to fire magic when activated. At the same time, it feels very warm when you use it.”
“…” Please no.
“But, looking at your character, I think my second recommendation is more suited for you.”
“What is it?”
“[Mortal Strike]!” Cairne took a deep breath and spoke those two words.
When talking about [Mortal Strike], you have to mention the elite warriors of the orc tribe. These masters with superb skills in swordsmanship were once members of the burning blade clan. Althougn not many of them are very famous, they are a force to be reckoned with in the battlefield.
Although blademasters are masters of stealth and fraud, they value individual honor more than anything else. Blademasters are powerful warriors, and their swordsmanship has reached the realm of supernaturalization.
“As long as you learn [Mortal Strike] you can automatically grasp the way to use all swords gaining great power in a single step, and with every increase in level of [Mortal Strike], your swordsmanship will become more sophisticated. [Mortal Strike] is a skill that blademasters learn after a long arduous and continuous training. I once met a blademaster named Samuro who despised all defenses. His movements were so fast that no one could see him when he attacked. You could give your all trying to catch him only to find him stabbing your throat at the next moment. It could be said that he really had the capabilities to look down on all his peers when it came to swordsmanship.”
“What! [Mortal Strike] actually has this sort of effect?! It includes weapon mastery?! That’s broken!” Lin Ling mouth could help but exclaim in admiration. It was as if he just discovered a new world. If this is true, then wouldn’t he turn from a complete rookie into a sword master in just a single step?
Incredible! Simply incredible!
“I choose this skill! Learning how to use weapons is my biggest priority right now!”
“Well, I’m happy my advice turned useful to you.”
“Then, how do I learn the skill?” After the question of what skill should be learnt, the next question was how to learn it.
“First choose the hero you want learn from. There are multiple stone steps bellow every statue, each corresponding to a single skill. Just stand on the stone step of the skill you want to learn.”
“Um, thank you!”
“You are welcome, I should be the one to thank you for…” With Lin Ling getting out of the range of Cairne, the latter changed back to a stone statue. It seems that is true there is a certain distance that cannot be surpassed if you want to keep talking to the heroes.
After searching for a moment, Lin Ling found the statue of a blademaster fiver meters away. After a short dialogue with the blademaster, Lin Ling finally learnt [Mortal Strike], this super practical skill!
It was only after learning the skill that Lin Ling realized there is no such a thing as skill level in this world. If he wants to make the skill more powerful it can only be done by continuous practice.
That is to say, if Lin Ling want to upgrade [Mortal Strike], then first he need to raise a certain value to some extent before its upgraded.
And this value is not shown. It has to do with the use of a sword after learning [Mortal Strike]. Some sort of hidden attribute.
After using his only skill point, Lin Ling directed his gaze at the Summoner Mastery. He doesn’t need to see the rune page because he doesn’t have any, and he also can’t open the Shop.
The Summoner Mastery changed dramatically in comparison with the game. The familiar treemap was simplified to only contain three simple attributes. Strength, Agility, and Intelligence.
With regards to strength, it goes without saying that this attribute will increase Lin Ling’s strength, physical fitness, body defense and some other physical enhancements.
Agility can increase Lin Ling’s overall speed, reduce his reaction time and improve his muscle flexibility.
Intelligence is related to magic. Increasing this stat can make Lin Ling smarter and increase the effects of meditation.
These attributes are the result of the multiple attributes of different games fused together, combined with the general trend of the actual world.
“First, I need strength to protect my life!” After choosing strength, Lin Ling felt a sudden burst of physical numbness, followed by the sensation of having endless power.
Unknowingly, with [Mortal Strike]’s weapon mastery and the increase in attributes, Lin Ling crossed the threshold of an ordinary person and became a Level 1 Warrior!
If someone were to know that besides being a Level 1 Warrior, Lin Ling was also a summoner, then that person would truly be shocked to death!
Thanks for the chapter. :)
ResponderEliminarIsn't supposed to be 'increased' reaction time instead of 'reduce'?
